The Boring Water District Budget Committee has forwarded a 2017/2018 FY budget to the Board of Commissioners that includes a rate increase.  The proposal does not increase the monthly meter base rate, but does increase the cost of each unit of water (100 cubic feet/748 gallons) by $0.05.  The proposed increase is due to a PGE proposal to increase their rates up to 6% for the 2017/2018 year. You are invited to attend the Budget Hearing on Tuesday, June 13th at 7PM at the water office. They welcome your comments and questions before they decide to adopt or make the changes to the budget.  If approved, the rate increase will be effective July 1, 2017.

*for the average household this increase would be approximately $.80 per month, or $1.60 per billing period.

Polivka Hill Standby Generator
If you are served off the Polivka Hill Pressure System, you are probably aware that when the power goes out, the water pressure was low and/or unreliable.  Hearing the concerns of customers affected, Boring Water District began saving some money to try and fix the problem. With money set aside in previous budget cycles, BWD Budgeted $25,000, and purchased a standalone 30 KW generator. The generator came in a weather and sound resistant housing to protect it from weather and animals as well as limit the noise impact to the neighbors around the pump station. The unit will run on LP Propane gas with a current storage capacity of 250 gallons. When the electricity goes out, it will automatically start up and switch to back up power. When power is restored it will automatically switch back to PGE power. BWD has a SCADA System that monitors the system and will notify our on call operator when the switches are made in case of equipment failure rather than a power outage.  The generator has been installed, we are finishing up the wiring and SCADA programming currently. If all continues to go well, the project should be completed and fully operational by July 1 2017.

We have a live 24 hour answering service to take your message and pass the emergency on to our on call operator.
